Aretha's Jazz Jam

This Sunday, shift gears to get to Aretha's Jazz Cafe for a jam session. From 6-9pm you can eat, drink, play, sing, or all of the above for absolutely free!

New Day Collective

THE NEW DAY COLLECTIVE is a jazz fusion band made up of Detroit’s leading artists. Influenced by The Crusaders, The Brecker Brothers and Snarky Puppy, this band brings its own new and creative voice to the genre. They play with a heavy dose of funk, rock and jazz featuring well-crafted original compositions and open improvisational sections. This band brings the fire!

Alise King is back by popular demand with The Vibe: A Dope Open Mic Experience. Arrive by 7 p.m. to sign up to take the mic during the program.

Gabe Gonzalez

Gabe Gonzalez is a Detroit-grown funk artist. His career has included multiple world tours with George Clinton and his own group - The Enemies. You can catch him on drums at Aretha's Jazz Cafe. Other featured artists at this event will be Phil Hale (Thornetta Davis, Skeeto's Funhouse) on keys, Rick Mickens on Bass, and FNR Recording Artist Ms.Coko Buttafli and Paul Mr. Entertainer on vocals.

Kern Brantley

Leading our house band, Kingdom, Kern Brantley performs at Aretha's as his touring schedule permits, Kern serves as the bassist and musical director for some of the biggest names in music today. His extensive resume includes work with Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Mary J Blige, Destiny’s Child, Chris Brown and many more.

The cafe will be closed tonight due to a private event hosted by Music Hall promoter, Bruce Bailey.

Diva D has won everyone's heart at our weekly jazz jams, and now she has a show of her own! Come celebrate this Diva's birthday and enjoy some jazz, followed by Aretha's Jazz Jam at 6.

Pat Smillie Band

Pat Smillie has been a fixture in our local and national music scene for many years, and he will be performing his new E.P. at Aretha's Jazz Cafe on February 27. Lonesome for a Long Time marks Smillie’s first recording in more than 10 years. Although his 2019 nomination for a Detroit Music Award in the category of “Outstanding Blues Vocalist” may lead some to categorize him as a blues singer, Smillie’s style is more that of a soulful rock & roll artist (who has been deeply influenced by classic 60's r&b).
