Harmonic Integrity x Architectural Properties + Passion
The Brad Fritcher + trois project consists of four eager musicians who are expanding their artistic vision beyond the strict confines of the jazz genre’s tradition. After the first rehearsal on GVSU’s campus, the trio of Brad Fritcher (trumpet), Dutcher Snedeker (piano) and Christian VanDuinen (drums) knew immediately that they were working with something valuable. Shortly thereafter, Ryan Wallace drifted into the bass position and into the studio at Blue Lake Public Radio they went. The album that came forth is one that conveys each member’s ability to communicate intellectually and musically to themselves, each other and the listener. After the release of the album, the Brad Fritcher + trois continues to tether audiences to their concepts and their sound with live and intimate performances.
Being Honest. Through mistake and bliss.
August 8, Thursday 7-9pm M. L. Liebler Presents Detroit Tonight Live with Detroit Poet & Slam Champ Deonte Osayande, Award Winning Metro Detroit Poets from Mary Jo Firth Gillett's Master Workshop Anne Doran & Nadia Ibrashi , PLUS Detroit's super folk hero following in the footsteps of Joni Mitchell - the wonderful Audra Kubat at The Jazz Cafe at The Music Hall located at 350 Madison across from The Gem & Comerica-close safe lighted parking http://www.jazzcafedetroit.com/
From Toledo Ohio, Ben Stalets follows the traditional style of country - blues, with his touch of folk. Echoes of Hank Williams howl, and a knack for story telling like you're favorite grandpa. The same guitar that tells you a sad story, in the same breath, can lift you back up with a joyful, engaging and suspenseful melody. And he sure isn't shy of a joke. Rough around the edges, like a rip in a pair of jeans - or a photo based on the subject rather than the frame - Ben is meticulous with detail in story rather than worrying about writing a catchy pop song. No matter what your style, you'll find yourself humming, tapping or clapping along.
Kris Lynn, jazz pianist and vocalist, loves the standards and is known for her extensive repertoire. She has been a constant in the Detroit Metropolitan area since the early sixties and has appeared at such venues as All That Jazz, The Rhinoceros, Baker' s Keyboard Lounge and numerous other spots where jazz lovers gather.
The Detroit Free Press notes that she "invokes the sounds of Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday".

Jerry Vile, best known as the Publisher/Editor of the legendary 90's monthly, Orbit Magazine and creator of The Dirty Show, the world's best attended erotic art exhibition, will be auctioning off his historic and now iconic, "Crisco Fist" public sculptural installation/integration at Jazz Cafe on Wednesday, August 14th, 6 - 9 PM to benefit the city of Detroit or it's favorite charity.
The oversized large-scale depiction of a can of Crisco vegetable shortening was integrated underneath the Joe Louis bronze sculpture created by Robert Graham as a social/political commentary by Mr. Vile on the city's recent slide into bankruptcy, offering it to the city as a donation to do as it seen fit. However the Mayor's office asked Vile to take it back- which he did and will put it up on an ebay- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jerry-Vile-Detroit-Vessel-of-Hope-Big-Blue-Fist-Can-StreetArt-Agitprop-/330985077600
The last 3 hours of the auction will be live at Jazz Cafe.
WiFi Hotspot friendly in the Cafe for bidding.
Media welcome.
Jerry Vile will be in attendance.

Singer and pianist Seth Hitsky was raised in Southfield. As frontman for the avant-garde rock band Maschina, he played concerts in Ann Arbor, Detroit and all over the midwest. After moving to Chicago in the late nineties, Seth contributed vocals to two albums by performer-producer Daniel Givens which also featured Chicago jazz luminaries Jeff Parker, Nicole Mitchell, Glenda Baker, and Josh Abrams. Seth went on to perform and record with two other Chicago groups, Mas Trueno and the Seth Hitsky- Hashim Uqdah Duo. In 2011, Seth moved to New Orleans where he has a weekly residency at Cafe Negril on Frenchmen Street with his new original band Black Dragons. Black Dragons takes inspiration from the 'gumbo' of New Orleans music, featuring an eclectic mix of jazz, soul, funk and rock and roll.

Mone' Little Foundation
http://www.monelittlefoundation.bravesites.com/
This website is dedicated in memory of my daughter Mone Little. She was a vivacious, athletic and intelligent young woman. She was my precious flower whose life was taken in January 2007. Her killer has not been found.
I have been heartbroken over her death and with her killer never found it is vey hard to have some form of closure. It is my sincere desire to help others whom have had to endure such a tragedy. Not only was I grief stricken but Iwas also heartbroken because at the time of my daughter's death I could not readily afford to bury her. It was hard to feel like a man.
I am developing a foundation in my daughter's name - Mone Little - to help mothers, fathers, and others whom have lost loved ones to murder. The purpose of this foundation is to raise money to help families whom can not afford to bury their loved ones (especially their children). Further, the foundation will fund the reward money chest to be offered when people offer information leading to finding the murders of our loved ones.
I am a musician and it is my desire to raise money via benefit concerts. I have a great group of long time friends whom perform music that speaks to your heart, stirs your spirit and inspires people to live and to love. We are using music as a platform to bring people together and bring attention to this epidemic of killing among our young people in particular. Please check my site for updates on where our band will be playing. Please see our Contact page if you wish to reach me.

Singing the blues for royalty and heads of state is enough of a stretch for the young daughter of a West Virginia coal miner. For Priscilla Price to be introduced to John F. Kennedy on the White House lawn, to shake the President's hand and get invited to perform at Hyannisport with the Leo Price Band was totally off the charts. "Leo's lawn thing," as Priscilla recalls the White House event, "was the first big show of my by CouponDropDown">career. I just couldn't know then what it really meant."
The same was true when she met and performed for Queen Elizabeth and Canadian Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson in Montreal in 1966.The singer's meteoric early years were punctuated with big name performers and bands. When not touring, she worked steadily at Brooklyn's Apollo Theater with Leo Price's house band.
