Singer and pianist Seth Hitsky was raised in Southfield. As frontman for the avant-garde rock band Maschina, he played concerts in Ann Arbor, Detroit and all over the midwest. After moving to Chicago in the late nineties, Seth contributed vocals to two albums by performer-producer Daniel Givens which also featured Chicago jazz luminaries Jeff Parker, Nicole Mitchell, Glenda Baker, and Josh Abrams. Seth went on to perform and record with two other Chicago groups, Mas Trueno and the Seth Hitsky- Hashim Uqdah Duo. In 2011, Seth moved to New Orleans where he has a weekly residency at Cafe Negril on Frenchmen Street with his new original band Black Dragons. Black Dragons takes inspiration from the 'gumbo' of New Orleans music, featuring an eclectic mix of jazz, soul, funk and rock and roll.
