Kahlil
Kahlil Childs is a 14-year-old multireedist from San Diego, California. He plays alto, soprano, tenor and baritone saxophones as well as bass clarinet and flute. He currently studies with grammy award winning saxophonist, pianist, and producer Kamau Kenyatta—a Detroit legend. Kahlil is also a featured player in the nationally renowned Young Lions Jazz Conservatory in San Diego under the directorship of trumpeter and bandleader Gilbert Castellanos. Last June, Kahlil made his professional debut at the age of 13 as a member of Castellanos’s quintet at the Jazz on Tap Festival in San Diego. Kahlil was also recently named as a Young Artist Grant winner by the Jazz Excellence organization (JEXA) and received his award at a red-carpet gala in Los Angeles from the legendary Dionne Warwick.
Jacob Hart is a 14-Year-old pianist, composer, and arranger from Detroit, MIchigan. He is a student at the esteemed Detroit School of Arts and also plays piano with many people, including Gayelynn McKinney, Ralphe Armstrong, Vincent Chandler, and several others. He has performed at the Detroit jazz festival 2 times, and has won a Downbeat Award. He has recently recorded his debut album “promenAde” which will be releasing in 2024.
