Stretching from the Theatre District to Capitol Park, five stages come alive with the most diverse array of music and performing arts ever gathered in one festival. You’ll find music of every possible variety, along with dance, theater, improv, puppetry, poetry, and more. All with Detroit roots, all with Detroit spirit. It’s all about bringing people together, sharing our favorites, and discovering new ones!

Lear and Ford Showcase Description
Music Hall and the DMW Festival committee believe in nurturing the ‘Detroit pipeline’ of emerging artists -- that ‘something in the water’ special quality that has produced some of the world’s most astonishing talent. On two stages under the big top tent, catch the next-gen in music, dance, theater, puppetry, spoken word, improv, and more. Showcase opportunities are highly sought-after, with paid slots being offered to just about 10 percent of the applications received.

MotorCity Market is the newest addition to Detroit Music Weekend’s fun: the largest one-day display of Detroit’s creativity, innovation, and commerce all in one festival!Stretching from Paradise Valley Park to Capitol Park, an array of all-Detroit cool stuff created by artisans who take their inspiration from our city and its incredible spirit…from apparel to edibles to art, festival-goers can expect to fall in love with a piece of Detroit and discover over 100 restaurants and retail shops in the City’s re-emerging shopper’s paradise.

[DMW EDUCATION PROGRAMS]
During the festival, DMW will be providing three free programs for students ages 10-18 to participate and learn from the best of the best! No prior experience is required. All students need to do is show up ready to learn! Programming will include…
Jazz Vocal Education Program
- A pre-professional program for students in Southeast Michigan, this programis led by Detroit’s legendary orchestra leader Scott Gwinnell. Mr. Gwinnell creates and implements curriculum, auditions, student instruction, and prepares and presents the culminating performances, which take place in Music Hall’s Jazz Cafe three times per year.
Lincoln Center's Jazz for Young People
- Lessons explore core concepts and major figures in jazz, and use interactive components to enliven its rich cultural heritage. The form’s definitive musical elements are taught, as well as its relationship to current culture and music -- giving students a relatable musical introduction to this quintessential American form
