Led by singer/pianist Rob Louis, the Rob Louis Trio explores the full expanse of the Great American Songbook in an acoustic jazz setting. They bring fresh arrangements and modern rhythms to classic songs by Cole Porter, George Gershwin and other eminent songwriters of American pre-war history. They also incorporate songs from more modern composers and performers like Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers,and Al Green; in this way, their jazz music is closely related to the Motown and funk traditions which emerged from the great spirit of Detroit and the Midwest.
