Primarily known for his long-time association with the Saturday Night Live Band, Turre is easily one of the most distinguished trombonists playing today, not to mention his stints with Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Woody Shaw and Ray Charles. Equally impressive on conch shells, Turre is a fiery player well versed in post bop, Afro-Cuban music and, on occasion, dipping into free jazz with reckless abandon.
“The jazz world needs more Steve Turres. A powerful technician with a soulful tone and quick wit, Turre is perhaps the leading trombonist of this generation. Turre also wails on his self-designed conch shells, making robust sound that can be both eerie and serene.”

“A brilliant trumpeter, flugelhornist and composer.”

Allan Holdsworth Guitar
Jimmy Johnson Bass
Chad Wackerman Drums
Without question, Allan Holdsworth is one of the most influential guitarists to ever play the instrument. A member of late Tony Williams Lifetime Band, Holdsworth solidified his reputation as an improvisational master, turning out new and exciting sounds on his guitar. From the time he first appeared in the early seventies until today, Holdsworth’s guitar is still mesmerizing and stunning. He has participated on three of fusion’s landmark recordings - Jean Luc Ponty’s Enigmatic Ocean, Gong’s Gazeuse! and Bill Bruford’s Feels Good To Me and One of A Kind.
For this engagement, Holdworth fronts a power trio featuring LA bassist Jimmy Johnson and Chad Wackerman on drums.

Daniel Sadownick Percussion
Pianist Michael Weiss, grand prize winner of the 2000 BMI/Thelonius Monk Institute Composers Competition, has established a formidable reputation working with such names as Johnny Griffin, Art Farmer and Wynton Marsalis. In addition to his demand as a sideman, Weiss’ roles as bandleader, recording artist, composer, arranger and educator have earned him accolades from both audiences and critics. Performs along with bassist Jimmy Johnson and Chad Wackerman on drums.
“Weiss is a nimble and inventive keyboard artist who couldn’t play an inelegant note if he wanted to. Even at full tilt, his sound is sleek, his lines lucid, his textures virtually transparent... his characteristically crystalline sound, seamless right-hand lines and meticulously contoured phrases... one of the best young jazz pianists in the business... gifted... refined...
elegant... compelling...”
