Cuban/Brazilian Quartet
Canadian born bassist/guitarist John Barron has been performing professionally for over twenty years. He has appeared on numerous recordings as a bassist and guitarist including CD’s by vocalist Odessa Harris, Sheila Landis and Janet Tenaj, award winning Latin jazz group Tumbao Bravo, jazz pianist Mark Thibodeau and two releases under his own name. He is the founder and leader of the progressive jazz group Trio Reenactment.
John has performed with numerous artists in a variety of musical genres. Performance highlights include concerts throughout the U.S., Europe and the Caribbean with Grammy nominated soul diva Bettye Lavette and throughout the U.S. with Motown legends The Contours. John holds a Master’s of Music degree from Oakland University, has had articles published on jazz education and has previously served on the jazz faculty at the University of Windsor.
The Cuban/Brazilian Quartet is an all-star group of Detroit-area veterans performing original music and covers, exploring the dance rhythms of the mambo, cha-cha-cha, samba, bossa nova and more. The group consists of John Barron (bass), Javier Barrios (percussion), Robert Emanuel (percussion) and Sven Anderson (keyboard).
